Risk management class assesses local fair.

Professor of Business Kurt Steadman recently took students from his risk management and insurance class to the Beaverhead County Fair for a risk analysis exercise.

Steadman believes that Experience One and the real-world exposure of the fair allows the students to see how class principles apply to risk analysis and liability in a community setting.

Montana Western students take a single class at a time under UMW's block scheduling program called Experience One. UMW is the only U.S. public four-year university offering block scheduling.

“This was a fun and really informative field trip,” business major Kinsley Rafish said. “It’s always nice to get out of the class room and be involved in the subject matter because it inspires meaningful discussions and I now have a deeper understanding of the material.”
