Eight English students from the University of Montana Western have been inducted into Alpha Epsilon Iota, the local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International Honor Society.
Professors of English Bethany Blankenship and Shane Borrowman serve as the faculty advisors for Alpha Epsilon Iota, which is one of only four Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society chapters in Montana. This year marks the UMW chapter’s 15th anniversary.
The new members are Amanda Burgstrom of Virginia City, Mont.; Sadie Caltrider, of Dillon, Mont.; Ashten Colvin of Helena, Mont.; Jaclynn Hanson of Dillon, Mont.; Jacob Kelly of Dillon, Mont.; Whitney Wallace of Butte, Mont.; Alyssa Waters of Dillon, Mont.; and Shaylin Young of Billings, Mont.
Membership in Sigma Tau Delta offers undergraduate scholars access to scholarships, internships, conferences and award-winning publications where students can publish critical and creative writing.
The Montana Western inductees were honored for their high academic achievement and personal accomplishments and awarded lifetime membership certificates and membership pins. Sigma Tau Delta advocates literacy and literature throughout the community and on campuses, nurturing the specialty of English in all its facets.
