BA: Environmental Sciences option
2007 Annual Program Report

Using courses that were already established, the Department completed the ssessment plan for the BA: Environmental Sciences option. From the Graduate and Employer Survey Results, there were not enough data to indicate the need for possible changes in the Assessment Plan or curriculum. However, both employers responding to the survey had favorable impressions of our graduates, and would hire other UMW graduates. In response to student need, we are in the process of hiring faculty in the areas of biochemistry/biology and botany/environmental interpretation. The biochemistry hire will strengthen the Biology Related Area and bring this degree more in line with national trends in biology undergraduate education. Moreover, this will strengthen the biomedical program, including more undergraduate research opportunities. The interpretation hire is necessary to strengthen the Wildlands Interpretation and Wildlands Therapy, as well as Biology.
