The University of Montana Western’s volleyball team will be playing on their home court for the first time in 2014 this Thursday. The Bulldogs will play the University of Great Falls on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in Straugh Gymnasium.
The University of Montana Western football team took on Montana State-Northern on Saturday and rolled to a 50-30 win. The win capped a weekend of celebrations as UMW honored Hall of Fame inductees with a morning ceremony and then halftime recognition of each new member.
The UMW football team heads to Caldwell, Idaho, to take on the College of Idaho for a Frontier Conference game against the newest member of the conference. The Bulldogs are currently 1-2 while the Yotes are 1-0. This is the first home football game in 37 years for the College of Idaho.
The Montana Western volleyball team heads to Helena on Thursday to take on the Saints in the Bulldogs first Frontier match of the 2014 season. They will then travel to Billings and take on Rocky Mountain College on Saturday. UMW finished their non-conference schedule with a 5-4 record.
The University of Montana Western rodeo team competed in Wyoming at the Northwest College Rodeo this past weekend. On Saturday the men won the team competition, while the women finished strong with a second place finish.
The University of Montana Western football team dropped a double overtime thriller to the Rocky Mountain Battlin’ Bears 30-37 Saturday at Dillon's Vigilante Stadium. The defeat takes the Bulldogs to an overall record of 1-2 and a Frontier conference record of 1-1. The Bears move to 2-0 overall, and 1-0 in conference play.
The Frontier Conference announced the players of the week following last weekends’ scheduled games. Montana Western’s senior safety, Jesse McCloud, earned the honor following his performance in week one versus Montana Tech.
The University of Montana Western volleyball team returned from its season opening tournament in Spokane, Wash., winning three games and dropping two. The Bulldogs swept all three matches in their victories and lost two matches by scores of 1-3.
The University of Montana Western football players reported to campus and football pre-season practice on Aug. 2. The team hit the field Aug 4, and after nearly two weeks the 2014 two-a-day practices will come to a close on Friday when the Bulldogs take to Vigilante field for a scrimmage and a final tune-up before their season opener.
University of Montana Western athletic director, Ryan Nourse, has announced the hiring of Lynn Reynolds as head coach of the Bulldog cross-country teams. The addition of cross-country to the UMW athletic department is the fifth and sixth varsity sports for Montana Western.
