UMW equestrian successful in Billings

On Feb. 16 and 17, the University of Montana Western equestrian team traveled to Billings, Mont. to compete in three regular western shows and a regional western show hosted by Rocky Mountain College. Montana Western competed against Rocky Mountain College, Montana State University, Utah State University, the University of Montana and Carroll College.

Bulldogs trounce Westminster 76-54

The University of Montana Western men’s basketball team was fired up when they hosted the Westminster Griffins (20-5, 7-4) on Saturday, Feb. 9. In the teams’ first meeting, held Dec. 1 at Westminster, Montana Western was handed their worst loss of the season: a 63-84 blowout with 23 turnovers and only four steals.

Bulldog football announces first 2013 recruits

University of Montana Western head football coach Ryan Nourse announced the signing of 11 Montana student athletes to Frontier Conference/NAIA Letters of Intent. This group represents the first of the 2013 Bulldog signings.

Volleyball signs California transfer

University of Montana Western head coach Lisa Griffiths announced that Kendra Mendicino of San Diego, Calif. signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA Letter of Intent. Mendicino will transfer from San Diego Mesa College and will compete with the Bulldogs in the fall of 2013 with two years of eligibility.

Men's basketball splits with Carroll, UGF

The University of Montana Western was on the road Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and 2, to Helena and Great Falls. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a 77-74 win against the Carroll College Saints (1-20, 0-10) on Friday. In Saturday’s game, the University of Great Falls (15-10, 6-5) avenged a previous loss to Montana Western, 59-71 on Jan. 12, with a 68-66 overtime victory.

Dave Kendall's lasting legacy at Montana Western

Dave Kendall, who served as the Western Montana College (now the University of Montana Western) Head Athletic Trainer for 30 years and fully modernized the campus athletic training program, died on Nov. 23, 2012 at the age of 70.

Men's basketball splits re-match

Fresh off home victories over Rocky Mountain College (75-67) and Dickinson State University (78-51), the University of Montana Western got mixed results on the road. On Thursday, Jan. 24, the Bulldogs defeated Rocky Mountain 89-86 in overtime but on Saturday, Jan. 26, Dickinson State handed them a 71-83 loss.

Men's basketball sweeps RMC and DSU

The University of Montana Western men’s basketball team heated up in their second straight weekend at home. On Friday, Jan. 18, the Bulldogs took down Rocky Mountain College 75-67. The next afternoon, Dickinson State was handed a 78-51 loss.

University of Montana Western head coach Lisa Griffiths announced another recruit for the 2013 volleyball season; Jessie Glidewell of Colville, Wash. signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA Letter of Intent and will compete with the Bulldogs in 2013.
