The University of Montana Western men’s basketball team traveled to Caldwell, Idaho for a pair of games on Nov. 16 and 17. The Bulldogs ran out of time in a comeback on Friday against the College of Idaho, losing 73-80. On Saturday, Montana Western was successful against Walla Walla University with a 77-69 win.
Maegen Nahrgang, a junior at the University of Montana Western and a member of the UMW rodeo team, is one of seven student-athletes from colleges and universities across the state to receive the 2012 Montana Athletes in Service Award sponsored by the Montana Campus Compact.
The Character Advisory Committee and the National Office of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently selected the University of Montana Western as a 2011-2012 Five Star Champions of Character Institution.
Two University of Montana Western seniors, Mariann Fretheim and Shelby Mack, saw their volleyball careers come to an end on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Frontier Conference Tournament in Butte, Mont. Ninth-seeded Dickinson State University turned in the first upset of the tournament with a hard-fought 21-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 15-11 five-set victory over Montana Western.
The University of Montana Western went to Salt Lake City, Utah for a tournament hosted by Westminister College. The team played three games in three days with the first game starting on Thursday, Nov. 8 against the 12th ranked BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles) Eagles.
The University of Montana Western traveled through the winter weather to Spokane, Wash. for the Frontier/Cascade Conference Crossover. The Bulldogs took on Eastern Oregon University on Friday, Nov. 9 and Corban University (Ore.) on Saturday, Nov. 10.
The University of Montana Western lost to Montana Tech 7-43 this past Saturday, Nov. 2. The loss moves the Bulldogs to a 3-6 record, while it bumped Montana Tech up to an 8-1 record, which leads the Frontier Conference.
Although the University of Montana Western did not get the wins this weekend, they were able to regain some confidence they will be taking with them to the Frontier Conference Tournament.
The University of Montana Western traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to take on two NCAA DII teams out of Colorado. Friday, Nov. 2 saw a win over Western State and Saturday, Nov. 3 was a close loss to Fort Lewis.
The University of Montana Western equestrian team traveled to Missoula, Mont. to compete in three Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) English horse shows on Nov. 3 and 4. The students competed against Carroll College, the University of Montana, Utah State University, Rocky Mountain College and Montana State University.
