By Lowell Peterson The 33rd annual Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit event was held in Great Falls, Mont. from Jan. 13 to 15, and sixteen current and former Montana Western students qualified for the finals. Three current Montana Western students, Tucker Zingg, Chase Redfield and Reef Mills, qualified and participated in the finals. Zingg and Redfield rode in the finals in the bareback event with Zingg finishing in a tie for the six/seven place with 61 points while Redfield received no score. Mills finished fourth in Steer Wrestling with a score of 6.2. Three former Montana Western students, Chase Erickson, Jake Costello and Shawn Downing, had strong showings and will represent Montana at the Dodge National Circuit Finals in Oklahoma City, Okla. starting on March 29 and former Montana Western student Flint Rasmussen won the Lifetime Achievement Award. Erickson won the bareback event and wound up in first place in the year end standings. Costello finished third in the Saddle Bronc event and ended up in first place in the year end standings. Downing finished seventh in Steer Wrestling and ended up second in the year-end standings. The spring portion of the Montana Western rodeo schedule will begin on April 6 with an event at Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.
