The University of Montana Western equestrian team traveled to Logan, Utah on Dec. 1 and 2 to compete in three western shows hosted by Utah State University. Montana Western competed against Montana State University, Rocky Mountain College, Utah State University and the University of Montana.
The results are as follows:
In the walk-trot division, Meghan Ortner took first, Lauren Zobrist placed second, Kathleen Anderson received third and McKenlie Baxter came in fourth. In the intermediate section, both Delanie Greer and Caiti Masters took first. In the novice division, George Lawson and Alison Pugh placed fifth. In advanced, Jordan Fuller placed third, Linda Sieverkropp received fourth and Caitlin Halliwell came in fifth. In open reining, Jenny Winfield took fifth.
Winfield took second in open reining and fourth in open rail. In advanced, both Fuller and Sieverkropp earned first. In novice, Pugh placed third and both Masters and Lawson came in sixth. In intermediate, Greer placed fifth. In walk-trot, Ortner and Anderson both took second and Zobrist and Baxter came in fifth. Winfield received high point rider for the show.

In novice, Pugh and Lawson took third and masters received fifth. In advanced, Halliwell earned second. Winfield took second in open rail, third in open reining and reserve high point rider for the show. The UMW team earned high point team for the show.
The equestrian team will not compete again until Feb. 2 and 3, when they will travel back to Logan, Utah to compete in one western and two English competitions.
