Montana Western's Labbe wins Athlete in Service award

Release-LabbeA University of Montana Western senior offensive lineman will be honored in the first quarter of the University of Montana Grizzlies versus the Montana State Bobcats football game on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Bozeman.

Brian Labbe is a senior center for the Montana Western Bulldogs football team. He is originally from Superior, Montana and is majoring in elementary education. Labbe will graduate in the fall of 2014. He has been on the academic Dean's List the past four semesters as well as an Academic All-Conference award winner.

Labbe will join eight other outstanding student-athletes, representing colleges and universities across the state, as they accept the award at the football game Nov. 23.

The awards will be presented by Karas, UM President Royce Engstrom, MSU President Waded Cruzado, Governor Steve Bullock and Lt. Governor John Walsh on the field at the annual Brawl of the Wild football game.

The 2013 Montana Athlete in Service Award is presented by the Montana Campus Compact and recognizes the exemplary service that Labbe has provided to his community. This award is in recognition of his service as a role model and for the legacy of civic engagement that he has left for his peers and others to admire.
