The University of Montana Western head basketball coach Steve Keller announced the signing of Florence, Mont., native Quinn Smith to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent.
Smith is the starting center for Miles Community College in eastern Mont. He is 6’ 10” tall and is averaging ten points and five rebounds a game this season. Currently the Bulldogs have two players who are listed taller than 6’ 5” on their roster, and they are both seniors. The signing of Quinn is a great start to the recruiting season for Keller and his program.
“We are excited that Quinn has decided to join our basketball program at Montana Western,“ said Coach Keller of his newest Bulldog. “Quinn is a very mobile 6’ 10” center who is very active on both ends of the floor. Quinn is a very strong, physical player that will help our team at the post position for the next two years.”
He was coached in high school by Sam Baerlocher. The current head coach at Miles Community College is Chase Tait who was an assistant for UMW coach Steve Keller for a year and a half.
Quinn is the son of Mike and Bernice Johnston. He plans to study education while attending Montana Western.
