Bulldog men face another big challenge

 The University of Montana Western men’s basketball team will travel to Helena, Mont. to take on Carroll College on Friday night and then head to Great Falls to take on Frontier Conference co-leader UGF on Saturday evening.

In the win the Bulldogs led by 20 points at one point in the game and would ultimately win by nine. The Bulldog defense stepped up the intensity and execution to stave off an 18-6 run by the Griffins late in the game. The Montana Western bench came up with another big game for Coach Keller as Kurtis Parsons dropped 16 points and Connor Woodill added ten of his own. Shyke Smalls continues to spark the Bulldog offense by adding nine points and five assists.

Carroll College is currently 1-6 in Frontier Conference play. Their lone win, however, is an impressive win over Montana-State Northern who was tied for the conference lead with only two losses prior to last weekends’ loss. The Saints are led by Chris McGrath who is averaging 15.26 points per game. Jake Hollifield is leads the team by grabbing an average of 6.37 rebounds a game and Zach Taylor is averaging better than four assists per game.

The Argos of UGF are currently 4-3 in conference play and are looking to climb back to the top of the Frontier with a win over Montana Western. UGF is 3-3 in their last six games, winning the last three games by an average of four points. Marcel Towns leads the team and conference with a scoring average of better than 21 points per contest as well as 3.47 thefts a game. Naren Maynard is averaging a team leading 7.05 rebounds a game while T.J. Harris has an average of 3.53 assists a game.

Both Friday and Saturday game times are set for 7:30 p.m.
