The University of Montana Western men’s basketball coach Steve Keller has announced the signing of another new Bulldog. Coach Keller’s UMW basketball program has signed Columbia Falls, Mont., senior Jared Trinastich.
Trinastich is a 6’ 5” 215 pound forward from Columbia Falls High School. During his senior year he averaged 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds a game for the Wildcats. He shot 78 percent from the free throw line and had 33 blocks on the defensive end. Following his senior season he was selected as the 2014 Montana Class A State Tournament MVP and was selected to the HIT Tournament Team. In addition to those honors he was a first team all-state and all-conference performer following his senior season. He was a two time all-state and all-conference selection as he earned those honors following his junior year as well. Trinastich put his athleticism on display on the football field as well. As a senior he was selected to the 2014 Shrine Game as a member of the West Team, was selected as the All-State quarterback, and earned first team all-conference honors. He received second team all-conference honors following his junior year.
“We are very excited that Jared Trinastich from Columbia Falls has decided to join our basketball program at Montana Western,” said Coach Keller. “Jared will be a perfect four man in our league. He can step out and shoot the three and he is capable of scoring with his back to the basket. Jared comes from one of the best programs in the state and has learned from one of the best coaches in the state in Bulldog alum Cary Finberg. Jared led his team to the state title this past season.”
Trinastich plans to study health and human performance while attending Montana Western. He is the son of Richard and Shannon Trinastich.
The University of Montana Western has launched a national search for the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs position.
