Bulldog football signs two Montana student athletes

Jerell Jeffries of Kalispell, Mont. and Taylor Sidwell of Roberts, Mont. signed NAIA letters of intent to play football for the Bulldogs next season, head coach Rich Ferris announced. By Wally Feldt Two Montana student athletes have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football at the University of Montana Western, head coach Rich Ferris announced. Jerell Jeffries is a 6-foot-3-inch, 225 lb defensive end from Kalispell, Mont. He will graduate this spring from Glacier High school. “Jerel is a big athlete who can run,” Ferris said. “He has been well coached and has great instinct on where the ball is. Jerel is an ideal fit in our run attitude defense.” Jeffries also competed in baseball and wrestling. He is the son of Dee and Devin Jeffries and plans to major in general studies. Taylor Sidwell is a 6-foot-1-inch, 200 lb running back from Roberts, Mont. He will graduate from this spring from Roberts High School. Sidwell earned first team all-conference honors as a running back and linebacker, and honorable mention all-state honors at running back. During his junior season and three games of his senior injury-hampered season at Roberts, he rushed for 1414 yards and 24 touchdowns on 221 attempts.  In receiving, he caught 31 passes for 212 yards and four touchdowns. At linebacker, he recorded 73 tackles, six quarterback sacks and two interceptions. Sidwell was selected to play in the Class C all-star game. “The hardest decision that we have to make is where to play Taylor,” Ferris said. “He is an extremely gifted athlete who does great things on both sides of the ball.” Sidwell also participated in basketball and track. He was selected to his school’s honor roll each year. Sidwell is the son of Pam Sidwell and Doug Sidwell and will major in elementary education and special education.
