UMW News BureauThe Bulldogs will be looking for their first conference win when they host league-leading Carroll College in a Frontier Conference match from the Straugh Gymnasium. By Wally Feldt The University of Montana Western Volleyball team hosts Carroll College in a Frontier Conference volleyball match, Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the Straugh Gymnasium. Friday is senior night as the Bulldogs honor their only senior, Kyla Rasmussen. The Bulldogs are 0-9 in the league and 4-12 overall after losing on the road to Lewis-Clark 3-0 and Westminster College 3-0. Montana Western outside hitter Theresa Bennett leads the team in kills with 2.3 per set and also in digs with 2.9 per set. Carroll College is 6-2 in the Frontier and 20-7 overall after losing last weekend 2-3 to Rocky Mountain College. The loss also dropped the Saints to No. 23 in the latest NAIA Top-25. Carroll’s Christina Smetana leads the conference in kills with 3.3 per set. Smetana also leads the league in blocks averaging 1.3 per set. In their last match the Saints beat the Bulldogs 3-0 in Helena, Mont. On Saturday the Bulldogs host Rocky Mountain College at 4 p.m. The Bears are 5-3 in Conference and 16-7 overall. In their last meeting Montana Western lost 0-3.
