By Wally Feldt University of Montana Western volleyball coach Katie Howells announced the signing of Amanda Marie Miller of Bozeman, Mont. to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent. Miller is a 5-foot-8 outside hitter and defensive specialist. In her senior season at Bozeman High School, her team placed second at the Montana Class AA state tournament and finished the year with a 10-2 conference record and an overall record of 24-6. "Amanda is coming to us from a great team at Bozeman High,” Howells noted. “She has many of the skills we look for in our recruits.” Miller is also a member of the Bozeman Volleyball Club team. Bozeman won the 18 select division at the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifying tournament last month in Denver, Colo. She was selected a Triple Crown All-Star at the tournament. Miller also excels in the classroom, maintaining a 3.5 GPA and earning academic all-state honors. "When I came and visited the campus and played with the girls, they were like a family,” Miller said. “Throughout my high school career I have experienced the same with my team at Bozeman High and I wanted to be able to go to a college that could provide the same experience." Miller will graduate this spring from Bozeman High School and plans to major in business. She is the daughter of Vickie and Lou Raisler.
