UMW equestrian team competes in Missoula

The University of Montana Western Equestrian team competed on Nov. 6 and 7 in three English shows hosted at The University of Montana. By Kaitlin Ens The University of Montana Western Equestrian team competed on Nov. 6 and 7 in three English shows hosted at The University of Montana. The UMW Equestrian Team competed against teams from Montana State University, Carroll College, The College of Southern Idaho, Utah State University, Rocky Mountain College, and The University of Montana. The Saturday morning show resulted in successful placings for many UMW team members. In Walk Trot Section 1, Sam Essig took second. In Walk Trot Section 2, Bree Boline placed third. Amber Johnson placed third in Beginning Walk Trot Canter Section 1. Jordan Fuller took second in Beginning Walk Trot Canter Section 2. In Advance Walk Trot Canter Section 2, Brenna Dwyer took first, Emily Cornell and Kalani Sheelar placed fifth and sixth respectively. Brenda Cole took second in Novice Flat Section 1, which qualified her for regionals in that respective event. In Novice Flat Section 2, Carissa Callison took second. In Intermediate Flat, Lexi Coniglione and Kristin Bredl placed fourth and sixth, respectively. In Novice Fences Section 1, Cole and Callison placed fourth and fifth, respectively. In Intermediate Fences, Bredl and Coniglione placed third and sixth, respectively. Amanda Gelderman placed third in Open Fences. Montana Western team members again placed successfully during the Saturday afternoon show. In Open Fences, Gelderman placed fifth. Coniglione and Bredl placed fifth and sixth respectively in Intermediate Fences. Linda Sieverkropp placed third in Novice Fences Section 2. Cole placed sixth in Novices Fences Section 1. In Open Flat, Gelderman placed fourth. In Intermediate Flat, Bredl and Coniglione placed third and fourth, respectively. In Novice Flat Section 2, Sieverkropp took first and Callison placed third, which qualified them for regionals as well for Novice Flat. Jill Archibald placed third in Novice Flat Section 1. In Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 2, Sheelar and Cornell placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Dwyer placed fifth in Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 1. In Beginning Walk Trot Canter Section 2, Kindle McCaulley placed third and Fuller placed sixth. Amber Johnson placed fourth in Beginning Walk Trot Canter Section 1. In Walk Trot, Essig and Boline took first and second, respectively. The Sunday morning show found Montana Western continuing to place well. Boline took first in Walk Trot. In Beginning Walk Trot Canter McCaulley took first and Johnson placed fourth. Dwyer took second in Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 1. In Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 2, Cornell and Sheelar took first and second. Archibald placed sixth in Novice Flat Section 2. Coniglione placed fourth in Intermediate Flat. Gelderman placed fifth in Open Flat. In Novice Fences Section 1 Callison took second and Sieverkropp placed sixth. Cole placed sixth in Novice Fences Section 2. Bredl and Coniglione took first and second, respectively. Gelderman took first in Open Fences. Two days of showing and successful performances team earned Montana Western the Reserve High Point Team. The team’s next show, hosted by Montana State University, will take place on Nov. 20 through 21 and will consist of two western shows and one English show.
