Montana Western equestrian hosts horse show

The University of Montana Western Equestrian Team hosted and competed in their home show on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 and 13. The show, held at J & S Sporthorses, consisted of three English shows. Competing teams included Carroll College, The College of Southern Idaho, Montana State University, The University of Montana, Rocky Mountain College, and Utah State University.     Saturday morning show
In Beginning Walk Trot, Samantha Essig began the show by taking first. In Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 1, Emily Cornell also took first. Amanda Copus placed fourth in Novice Flat Section 1. Linda Sieverkropp and Lexi Coniglione placed third and fifth, respectively. In Open Flat, Kristin Bredl took first and Amanda Gelderman placed third. In Novice Over-Fences Section 1, Carissa Callison took first and Copus placed fifth. Sieverkropp placed sixth in Novice Over-Fences Section 2. In Intermediate Over-Fences, Coniglione placed fourth. In Open Over-Fences Gelderman placed third. The UMW equestrian team won Reserve High Point Team.
    Saturday afternoon show
In Open Over-Fences, Gelderman took first. In Intermediate Over-Fences, Bredl placed fourth. In Novice Over-Fences Section 2, Sieverkropp took first and Copus placed fifth. Callison took first in Novice Over-Fences Section 1. In Open Flat, Gelderman placed third and Bredl placed sixth. In Intermediate Flat, Sieverkropp took second while Callison and Coniglione placed third and fourth, respectively. Copus placed fifth in Novice Flat Section. Kindle McCauley placed third in Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 2. In Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 2, Amber Johnson and Cornell placed fourth and fifth, respectively. In Beginning Walk Trot, Bree Boline and Essig took first and second, respectively. The Montana Western equestrian team won Champion High Point Team. Linda Sieverkropp won Reserve High Point Individual. Carissa Callison qualified for regionals in Novice Over-Fences. Samantha Essig qualified for regionals in Beginning Walk Trot.
    Sunday morning show
In Open Over-Fences, Gelderman took second. In Intermediate Over-Fences, Bredl also took second. Sieverkropp took first in Novice Over-Fences Section 1. In Open Flat, Gelderman took first and Bredl placed third. In Intermediate Flat, Sieverkropp and Callison placed third and fourth, respectively. McCauley took second in Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 2. Cornell placed third in Advanced Walk Trot Canter Section 1. In Beginning Walk Trot Canter, Essig and Jordan Fuller took first and second, respectively. Boline finished the show by taking first in Beginning Walk Trot. The Montana Western equestrian team won Champion High Point Team. Bree Boline qualified for regionals in Beginning Walk Trot. The equestrian team’s next show will be the western regionals hosted by Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont. The Montana Western team will also be hosting and showing in the English regional horse show on March 5 and 6 at J & S Sporthorses in Dillon. Spectators are welcome.
