Birch Creek Center
Welcome to the Birch Creek Center website!
The Birch Creek Outdoor Education Center is located within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest in the East Pioneer Mountains, 22 miles northwest of Dillon, Montana. The Center was originally constructed as a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp. Today, the Birch Creek Center provides a place for diverse educational, recreational, and social opportunities for the local and global community. The Center encourages and supports field-based and group enriching experiences, thus enhancing educational opportunities for the young, traditional, and lifelong learners.
The Center is managed by The University of Montana-Western (UM-Western), which began to lease the facility from the U.S. Forest Service in 1978. During the mid 1980's, the Bender Conference Center was constructed with dinning facilities and additional overnight accommodations. Since then, the Birch Creek Center continues to guide experiential, hands-on ecological learning for several hundred students each year, hosts various workshops, trainings, weddings, family reunions, and coordinates Elderhostel programs.
Whether it is a school group, field camp, business training, educational workshop, or a family event, the Birch Creek Center is the ideal venue. It's exemplary meals, basic accommodations, and one-of a kind location lends itself to a relaxed and successful experience.
