English Equestrian takes 5th place at Stanford

Eight riders from the University of Montana Western Bulldogs English equestrian team finished fifth in the zones competition on April 7 and 8 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. A total of 32 college teams were represented at the event. On Saturday, assistant English coach Amanda Gelderman started things off by winning the open equitation over fences competition and followed up by placing sixth in individual open equitation on the flat. Team captain Linda Sieverkropp finished fifth in team intermediate equitation over fences and Bryne Kilgore placed fifth in team intermediate equitation on the flat. George Lawson placed third in team novice equitation on the flat and Kathleen Anderson ended the day with fifth place in team walk trot equitation. On Sunday, Gelderman placed second in team open equitation over fences and third in team open equitation on the flat. Caitlin Halliwell placed seventh in individual intermediate equitation over fences and Chelan Taylor placed fifth in team novice equitation over fences. Sieverkropp placed third in individual intermediate on the flat and Alison Pugh finished off the show with a second place in team walk-trot-canter equitation. Gelderman qualified for nationals in individual open equitation over fences and for the Cacchione Cup. Bryne Kilgore, George Lawson and Jordan Fuller will also be showing at the nationals held May 3-6 in Raleigh, N.C.
