School of Outreach offers publishing course

The University of Montana Western School of Outreach will be offering an introduction to publishing class during Block 2 of the fall 2011 semester and Block 8 of the spring 2012 semester. UMW NEWS BUREAU The University of Montana Western School of Outreach will be offering an introduction to publishing class during Block 2 of the fall 2011 semester and Block 8 of the spring 2012 semester. “English 291: Small Press Publishing," a four-credit course, will be taught by Lost Horse Press Founder and Director Christine Holbert. The course will focus on the history of small presses and literary magazines, manuscript production, editing, design, typography, copyright law, marketing and more. Both the spring and fall courses will take place in the Swysgood Technology Center Room 004 from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. Lost Horse Press, based in Sandpoint, Idaho, was established in 1998 as a nonprofit independent press. This unique press publishes poetry titles of high literary merit and makes other contemporary literature available through cultural, educational and publishing programs and activities.
