Gardiner

Gardiner can be found south of Livingston along the beautiful Yellowstone River on State HWY 89. The town was founded in 1880 and named for Johnston Gardiner, a trapper and mountain man who trapped along the upper Yellowstone and its tributaries. Visitors enjoy the area's stunning scenery, and the small town aspects of a Yellowstone gateway community.   Fall travelers see elk, up close and personal in the midst of the rut in town and at
nearby Mammoth. Elderhostel accommodations are located on Gardiner's Main Street, on Yellowstone's northern boundary.  Yellowstone's northwest entrance is Roosevelt Arch, three blocks from the motel.  The Arch was dedicated in 1903 by Theodore Roosevelt.  Lodgings for services and winter programs at the Super 8 Motel.
