#15880 Greater Yellowstone: A Backcountry Encounter
June 20-27 and August 16-23, 2008

"Getting away from it all" should be the antithesis of a real Yellowstone experience. With boiling mud pots, erupting geysers and thriving populations of moose, bughorn sheep, wolves and bears, a visit to Yellowstone is best considered "getting to it all." By day, hike this vast wilderness and see the park from and insider's point of view witht eh help of scientists and veteran park officials. Come to understand this pristine environment and nature's greatest dramas, as they are played out above one of the most geologically active places on Earth. Join a seven-night expedition that gives you an intimate understanding of the world's oldest national park. Based at grand lodges within Yellowstone - including Lake Hotel and Old Faithful Snow Lodge - learn the "when, how and why" of Yellowstone - the natural forces that molded it and the human influences that affect it to this day.

#15902 Wyoming's Grand Tetons: An American Alpine Adventure
June 27-July 4 and August 23-30, 2008
Like granite guardians, the Grand Tetons stand above the weathered barns, sage-covered valley floor and cowboy culture of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, forming some of the greatest iconic images of the American West. Zoom in on these magnificent, imposing mountains for an up-close experience in some of the most inviting and inspiring wilderness in the Lower 48. Moose and grizzly bears drink from glacial lakes, alpine forget-me-nots blanket mountain meadows, and bighorn sheep scramble up talus slopes. Past it all, the Snake River flows — a meandering mirror to a grand landscape.
With naturalist Study Leader Dr. Catherine Cain, examine and experience the area’s geology, wildlife, flora, human history on walks and hikes through habitats — from the sagebrush steppe to the alpine community at tree line.
