#14910  A GREATER YELLOWSTONE ADVENTURE FOR GRANDKIDS (8-11) AND GRANDPARENTS June 21-26, July 12-17, and July 26-31

(West Yellowstone, MT)
Molten rock, explosion, crater, hot spot, dome, steam vent, sulfide gas, cone, earthquake! WOW!  What are they and what do they have to do with Yellowstone?  See animals that live in the park, from wolves, elk, bison and ospreys to marmots, pronghorn, bears and ravens.  Who is predator?  Who is prey?  Learn to kayak on North America's largest mountain lake.  Hike geyser basin trails to experience the Park's stinky sulfur, bubbly mudpots and hottest thermal area.  See huge waterfalls, vivid canyon colors and hear a thundering roar.  Mountain bike and ride horseback through different habitats.  What critters live here?  Why are some rare and seldom seen?  Cast a paw print, examine owl pellets, and explore museums. *activity level 3

#17306 YELLOWSTONE'S GREAT OUTDOORS: AN INTERGENERATIONAL ADVENTURE (FOR KIDS 12-15)

June 21-27 (Gardiner, MT)

Hiking, horseback riding and a river float with overnight campout is hands-on exploration of Yellowstone’s magnificent ecosystem – from streamside habitat to forested mountains. Field trips, outdoor activities and classes take place within the largest, nearly intact, temperate ecosystem on earth and “show” how all life is connected; how all parts of a healthy ecosystem work together to make the whole – plants, animals, bugs, fish, water, geology, weather patterns, predator/prey dynamics, management practices. See bison, elk, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, osprey and more.  Explore the Yellowstone volcano - hike thermal basins, canyons and foothill trails. Float the mighty Yellowstone River outside the park and horseback ride in the Absaroka Mountains within national forest lands.

Note: Two hour horseback ride, four hikes from 1 ½ to 3 miles each, on moderate terrain at altitudes ranging from 4,200’ to 7,700’. Raft 18 miles on Class II and III whitewater. Tent camp at 5,100’; three meals at camp; no personal facilities. One outdoor BBQ with time around the campfire. A tour and two-hour service project working with collections at the Yellowstone National Park Heritage and Research Center.  **activity level 4
