Andy Hackbarth Band to perform at UMW

Andy Hackbarth BandThe Andy Hackbarth Band will be coming to the University of Montana Western on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

The concert is sponsored by the Southwest Montana Arts Council (SWMAC) and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Beier Auditorium.

The band is led by award-winning singer/songwriter Andy Hackbarth. The Colorado native got his musical start as a songwriter and performer in Nashville, Tenn. Melding American folk music with flamenco, classical and pop, Hackbarth soon made a name for himself in the thriving Nashville music scene. Now based out of his home state of Colorado, Hackbarth is currently on the heels of his critically acclaimed third full-length album “The Last Love Song.” The Andy Hackbarth Band are touring across the country sharing the stage with the likes of Los Lobos, Melissa Etheridge and Lonestar, among others.

Ahead of his Tuesday evening performance at the Beier Auditorium, Hackbarth will perform an acoustic, free concert on the Montana Western campus from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The ice cream social will take place on the lawn between Block Hall and the Lucy Carson Library.

Hackbarth is also a renowned educator and will present a free songwriting workshop for Montana Western music students on Tuesday from 2 to 3:15 p.m. All Montana Western professors and their classes are invited to the workshop.

Tickets for the evening performance are absolutely free to Montana Western students courtesy of the SWMAC, the Associated Students of the University of Montana Western and KDWG College Radio. Tickets are available at the UMW Bookstore, the Bark ‘n’ Bite, the Residence Life office and the ASUMW office.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.
