Three upcoming School of Outreach community presentations

UMW News Bureau

The University of Montana Western School of Outreach presents three upcoming educational opportunities for the community.

On Monday, Nov. 5, instructor Linda Bandelier will present “Storytelling” from 7 to 9 p.m. in Main Hall Room 218. The free course offers students an introduction to oral storytelling traditions, forms and methods. Participants will explore listening to and telling stories to enable and stimulate learning and creativity.

Business owners, employees, job seekers and lifelong learners will find skill training for a diverse array of professional fields with an introductory presentation of ed2go online courses on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. The UMW School of Outreach offers the online courses in partnership with ed2go and the informational session will provide participants an opportunity to sample the ed2go online course format risk-free. The School of Outreach’s Ryann Gibson will facilitate the presentation in the Swysgood Technology Center Room 104. Visit ed2go.com/umwestern to browse courses.

On Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m., instructor Lisa Grace will host a free discussion looking at historical and recent efforts in rural community development and offer steps to make a positive impact through collaboration. Grace is the executive director of OneMontana, a non-profit working to build positive relationships between rural and urban communities. She will present examples of recent economic development efforts in communities over the years. The discussion will explore what worked, what didn’t and whether or not collaborations across rural and urban lines have contributed to greater success. Grace’s presentation will take place in the Lucy Carson Library Room 202.
