The University of Montana Western Inaugural Committee will host a reception and prime rib scholarship dinner on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lewis and Clark room of Mathews Hall.
The dinner is part of the university’s inauguration events Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 which include the inauguration of Chancellor Beth Weatherby and a celebration of the success of the university’s unique Experience One program.
Montana Western Foundation Director Roxanne Engellant said the purpose of the dinner is to raise funds for student scholarships. “Scholarship donors are changing lives. Donations are truly an investment in the future that will pay great dividends for Montana and our nation,” Engellant said.
She also said that because of exceptionally affordable tuition rates, donor dollars go much further to fund education at Montana Western than many other schools.
The university awards an estimated $235,000 in private dollars annually to support UMW students through a wide variety of scholarships.
Dinner speakers include Chancellor Beth Weatherby and former educator Godfrey Saunders. Saunders will relate his inspirational story of how scholarship dollars assisted in making his education possible.
He has received the Montana Western Distinguished Alumni award, graduated from Western Montana College (now Montana Western) in 1973 and received his master’s in 1983. Saunders also went on to receive a Ph.D. from Montana State University in educational leadership.
