Wolves and the role of wildlife predators will be the topic of a film and panel discussion on Wednesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in Block Hall Room 311 on the University of Montana Western campus. The panel discussion after the film will include Wisdom, Mont. rancher Dean Peterson; Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commissioner Dan Vermillion; Anaconda Sportsmen’s Club and Montana Wildlife Federation board member Chris Marchion; and  Western Wolf Coalition Montana Outreach Representative Derek Goldman. Michelle Anderson, assistant professor of biology at the University of Montana Western, is offering the presentation to students in her “Montana Wildlife and Habitats” course. As part of the class, students may choose to attend one or more of three wildlife management educational opportunities including the April 28 wolf presentation, a field trip to study sage grouse with a Bureau of Land Management representative, or a visit to the Camas National Wildlife Refuge in Idaho. “It will be interesting to see what the panelists think about the movie and how it relates to their experiences with managing predators in Montana,” Anderson said. The event is free and open to the public.
