Funds raised by spectators betting on competitors benefited Montana Western's booster club. The second annual “Great Western Race” took place Friday, April 17 at the Beaverhead Golf Course. The event matches area personalities in 40-yard runs with proceeds to benefit the University of Montana Western Booster Club. Spectators pledge a minimum of $10, pick a winner of a race and have a chance to win $300. This year, head basketball coach Steve Keller raced JaRon Brown, one of his student athletes (pictured). Brown won the race.
