By Wally Feldt The University of Montana Western women’s basketball team is again ranked in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. Montana Western is ranked 14th with a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.396. The Bulldogs have been named to the WBCA NAIA Honor Roll for eight straight years and were second in 2004-05. “This is a great honor for our basketball program,” said former head coach Kevin Engellant. “Our student athletes take a great deal of pride in their academic accomplishments and they understand that doing well in the classroom and getting a degree is their number one priority.” The WBCA Top 25 recognizes teams throughout the nation that have the highest GPA for the 2008-2009 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches. "It is always an honor for the WBCA to recognize these teams for putting together outstanding cumulative grade point averages," WBCA CEO Beth Bass said.  "We want to congratulate each and every one of these teams for their efforts in the classroom and want them to know that we celebrate their hard work.  My thanks go out to these teams for setting a benchmark of success academically among their peers in the sport." Montana Western was one of four Frontier Conference teams honored.
