UMW News BureauThe Bulldogs will be looking for their first conference win of the season when they travel to Butte for a conference volleyball match against Montana Tech. By Wally Feldt The Montana Western volleyball team travels to Butte, Mont. to face the Montana Tech Orediggers in a Frontier Conference volleyball match Thursday, Sept. 24. The first serve is at 7 p.m. from the Montana Tech HPER complex. The Bulldogs are 4-9 overall and 0-4 in the conference after dropping road matches to Carroll College 0-3 and Rocky Mountain College 0-3. The Orediggers are 8-10 overall and 1-3 in league play after losing to Rocky 1-3 and also to Carroll 0-3 last weekend. Tech downed the Bulldogs 0-3 last month in a non-conference match to open the season. Katie Daly leads the Orediggers in kills with 2.8 per game and is second in the conference in hitting percentage with a .292 average. Allyse Cruise leads the Orediggers’ defense with 2.7 diggs per game. Theresa Bennett leads the Bulldogs in kills with 2.3 per game and also in digs with 3.1 per game. The Bulldogs return to the Straugh Gymnasium to host MSU-Northern on Friday, Oct. 2 and the University of Great Falls on Saturday, Oct. 3 as part of the 2009 homecoming weekend.
