By Wally Feldt University of Montana Western volleyball coach Katie Howells announced the signing today of Ariana Milla of Fresno, Calif. to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent. Milla transfers from Fresno City College. In the 2009 season she played in 80 games and recorded 163 kills with a .295 hitting percentage. Milla earned first-team all-conference honors when Fresno City won their second straight Central Valley Conference championship. “What impresses me the most with Ariana is her ball control as a hitter," Howells said. "She takes care of the ball and you can tell she has lots of playing experience. She is very versatile and can play middle, outside or right side. Ariana will add a lot of options to our front row.” Milla is a graduate of Central High School of Fresno, Calif. She is a dean's list student at Fresno City College where she will graduate with a nursing education degree. "I loved the campus and the team," Milla said of her first visit to Montana Western. "I grew close to them in one night and I just felt like I was at home even though I was so far from home. I'm really excited to be a student at Montana Western in the fall and be a part of the volleyball team. I'm very grateful to have been given the opportunity to play at a higher level in volleyball and it wouldn't have been possible without Tracy and Justin, my coaches from Fresno City.” Milla plans to major in biology and minor in special education. She is the daughter of Diana and Al Milla.
