The University of Montana Western Art Gallery announces its fall 2010 and spring 2011 schedules featuring six exhibitions and a holiday art sale. [caption id="" align="alignleft" width="195" caption=""Earth Home" by Julia Becker."]earth home.julia becker[/caption] UMW NEWS BUREAU The University of Montana Western Art Gallery announces its fall 2010 and spring 2011 schedules featuring six exhibitions and a holiday art sale. Artist Karen Rice’s “Arid Lands and Half Lives” runs Sept. 1 through Oct. 15. Rice’s work is a mix of paintings and drawings. From Oct. 21 through Nov. 30 the gallery will feature a sculptural installation by Julia M. Becker entitled “Earth Home: 107 Equinoxes.” Sculptor Richard Helzer’s “Prophecies and Transformations” will be on display from Dec. 6 through Jan. 28, 2011. The UMW Gallery will feature the annual Holiday Art Sale on Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. From Feb. 1 through March 1 the gallery will present a special exhibition organized by the Montana Art Gallery Directors’ Association entitled “By the People For the People: New Deal Prints from the 1930s and 1940s.” The University of Montana Western Art Student Exhibition will be on display from March 7 through April 8. Wrapping up the spring 2011 showcase will be the UMW Faculty & Staff Exhibition from April 14 through May 6. The Montana Western Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the south end of Main Hall on the University of Montana Western campus, 710 South Atlantic Street, Dillon, Mont. 59725. The gallery also features a permanent art collection featuring C.M. Russell, Edgar Paxson, Monte Dolack, Gennie DeWeese, John Buck, Ansel Adams and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith.
