UMW NEWS BUREAU The University of Montana Western women’s basketball team will be hosting their annual Think Pink breast cancer awareness night on Friday, Feb. 25 in Montana Western’s Straugh Gymnasium. The event, in conjunction with the national Pink Zone cancer awareness effort, will raise money for the Southwest Montana Mammography Program. The Bulldog women face the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears at 5:30 p.m. The men follow at 7:30 p.m. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association initiated the Pink Zone in 2007 to raise breast cancer awareness globally in women’s basketball. The Bulldogs’ Think Pink night will involve 50-50 raffles and other fun fundraising activities. Donations to the fundraising effort can be made at the games. Fans wearing pink will be admitted free of charge. The women’s basketball program is teaming up with Catholic Campus Ministries, the Montana Western Student Senate, the Humans in Performance (HIP) Club, and other individuals from the community to put on the fundraising event. The Bulldogs raised $1,762 for the Southwest Montana Mammography Program at last year’s Think Pink night.
