Women's basketball signs Bozeman's Jenna Banks

University of Montana Western head women’s basketball coach Cara Cocchiarella announced the signing of Jenna Banks, a 5’4” guard from Bozeman, Mont., to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent. By Brett Morehouse University of Montana Western head women’s basketball coach Cara Cocchiarella announced the signing of Jenna Banks, a 5’4” guard from Bozeman, Mont., to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent. “Jenna has experienced a lot of success as a leader of a great high school basketball program and we are very happy she chose Montana Western,” Cocchiarella said. “She is an extremely hard worker and an excellent student who fits in well with our system of play and with the players on our current roster. We are looking forward to working with Jenna over the next four years. She has great potential to contribute at this level.” Banks will graduate this spring from Bozeman High School where she maintains a 3.8 GPA. She is a member of the Leo Club and has been an honor student all four years of her high school career. Banks’ academic excellence also earned her recognition as an Academic All-State athlete from 2008 to 2011. Banks has an equally accomplished record on the court. She became the starting point guard for the Bozeman Hawks as a junior and led her team to the 2009-2010 Class AA Eastern Conference Championship followed by the 2009-2010 Class AA State Championship. Banks was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team for her efforts that season. During the 2010-2011 season, Banks once again drove the Hawks to the Class AA Eastern Conference Championship before completing her high school career with a third-place finish at the Class AA State tournament. As a senior she was named to the Class AA All-State first team, the Class AA Eastern All-Conference first team and the Class AA State All-Tournament team. This spring, Banks was selected to play in the 2011 Highline Invitational Tournament where she was once again honored by being named to the tournament All-Star Team. Banks is the daughter of Kelly Banks and Annie (Castill0) Banks and plans to major in biology with an emphasis in pre-professional health at Montana Western.
