Montana Western Pink Zone events continue to grow

Seven years ago, a group of community members teamed up with the Montana Western women’s basketball program to stage a breast cancer awareness game to honor survivors and increase awareness of the disease.

From t-shirts and a bake sale, the program has grown to include events throughout the month of February, and has generated more than $22,000 in the past five years to support the Southwestern Montana Mammography Program.

First spring scrimmage offers halfway evaluations for Bulldog Football

The Montana Western football team has been going through spring practices for the past two weeks. This past Saturday they held their first spring scrimmage, which was also roughly the halfway point. Bulldogs trounce Westminster 76-54

The University of Montana Western men’s basketball team was fired up when they hosted the Westminster Griffins (20-5, 7-4) on Saturday, Feb. 9. In the teams’ first meeting, held Dec. 1 at Westminster, Montana Western was handed their worst loss of the season: a 63-84 blowout with 23 turnovers and only four steals.

Men's basketball splits with Carroll, UGF

The University of Montana Western was on the road Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and 2, to Helena and Great Falls. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a 77-74 win against the Carroll College Saints (1-20, 0-10) on Friday. In Saturday’s game, the University of Great Falls (15-10, 6-5) avenged a previous loss to Montana Western, 59-71 on Jan. 12, with a 68-66 overtime victory.

Dave Kendall's lasting legacy at Montana Western

Dave Kendall, who served as the Western Montana College (now the University of Montana Western) Head Athletic Trainer for 30 years and fully modernized the campus athletic training program, died on Nov. 23, 2012 at the age of 70.
