Director of Teacher Education Field Experience/Licensing Officer

Description

The successful candidate will work with students in all licensure programs of the Division of Education to coordinate field placements, communicate licensure expectations, and facilitate the licensure process.  The Director of Field Experience is responsible for field experience placements, including student teaching, as well as shorter field experiences associated with courses throughout the P-12 education curriculum.  Additionally, the Director serves as the instructor of record for all sections of student teaching, which entails providing support and information to students as they prepare to student teach and while they are engaged in their student teaching experience. The Director is responsible for securing excellent student field experience placements through impeccable communication with school partners, mentor teachers, and University supervisors. Some state-wide travel is required. The Director of Field Experience identifies and trains University supervisors and tracks evaluation data for student teachers, interns, and students in field experiences. In addition, the Director of Field Experience is the Licensing Officer for the University of Montana Western and is responsible for communicating all Montana (and adjacent states) licensing requirements and changes to the teacher candidates and Education faculty.  The Director also coordinates the post baccalaureate program.   The Director of Field Experience reports directly to the Division Chair of Education. 

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Education

  • Three or more years successful teaching in K12 schools

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work well with students and faculty
