Accounting Associate III - Student Accounts Services Manager

Description

Manages the activities of Student Account Services.  This position resolves a variety of student account issues (billing disputes, payment issues, etc.) with both students and/or parents.   Acts in advanced collections role related to delinquent accounts such as researching borrower’s history and ability to pay; setting-up non-traditional repayment plans in unusual circumstances.   Includes soliciting payments, posting to appropriate account(s), preparing statements of proper credit, and keeping records of collection status.   Position is back-up position for cashier and Billing Specialist and will be expected to perform those duties as needed.  Position will train to coordinate departmental technology and student services with other departments including IT, Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, Residence Life, and Outreach.

Educational Requirements

Associates Degree with accounting course work and or computer technology and four years of progressively responsible experience.  State, university, or Banner experience required. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered. 

Desired Qualifications

Skill and experience in accounting principles and practices; ability to reconcile accounts and work within established University, State guidelines in a variety of financial and operational situations; knowledge and experience in billing/collection processes and procedures; knowledge of banking and cashiering processes and procedures; experience testing new software and software upgrades; skill in the operation of personal computers and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software and standard office equipment; public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills, including ability to work with diverse group of individuals; experience working under pressure, handling conflicts, making decisions, and problem solving; strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail; ability to assist with short-range and long-term planning; ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work on projects independently; the ability to consistently exercise initiative.
