Dillon, Mont. - The University of Montana Western men's basketball team has announced the signing of local high school star Tanner Haverfield.
Tanner Haverfield, a native of Dillon, is the son of Gary and Terri Haverfield. Haverfield led the Beaverhead County Beavers to back-to-back Class A State Championships. "We are very excited that Tanner has decided to join our Bulldog basketball team." stated head coach Steve Keller, "Tanner has played in a great program and has been well coached. He knows how to win as he helped lead his team to two consecutive state titles."
He averaged 18.6 points and 5.2 rebounds a game during his high school career. He was an two-time all state selection as well as a two-time Southwestern A MVP. "Tanner has become a very good three point shooter and has improved at getting to the rim and freethrow line. We look forward watching Tanner develop into a very good player in our league." Keller added.
Haverfield will graduate from Beaverhead County High School this June, and is undecided on a major at Western.
