The University of Montana Western seeks creative and excellent applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position focusing on accounting and finance to join its outstanding faculty within its Department of Business and Technology. The position would begin in August 2015.
Montana Western seeks a faculty member who excels at creating active, experiential learning environments for his/her students. With its unique Experience One block scheduling system, Montana Western provides faculty the uninterrupted extended time periods to make this happen. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses primarily in accounting, finance and general business administration. Opportunities exist for faculty to teach interdisciplinary courses with other faculty from across campus. Faculty workload includes teaching 12 credits (usually three four-credit courses) per semester, advising, scholarly activities and professional service.
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in accounting or a related area. Consideration will be given for candidates who do not hold a doctoral degree but possess a MBA, MACC and CPA or CMA license combination. Consideration will be given to those who currently hold a CPA license and are working towards MACC degree. Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years licensed CPA/CMA work experience. Previous teaching experience is preferred, and candidates will have demonstrated effective leadership, excellence in teaching, the ability to work collegially with others, evidence or potential of scholarly work, and business and industry experience.
Evidence of the utilization of active, experiential learning in his/her teaching is strongly desired. This may include project-based learning, group projects, team teaching, field experiences, and original student research.
