Frontier Conference commissioner Kent Paulson released the 2012-13 Academic All-Conference Men’s Basketball team on Saturday, March 23. Westminster College led the conference with 11 players selected followed by Montana Western, Montana Tech and the University of Great Falls with five apiece.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled at the same school for the previous two semesters.
The following student-athletes from Montana Western are:
Grant Fink of Helena, Mont. Fink is the son of Rueben and Debbie Fink and is a junior majoring in business/health and human performance.
Austin Mailey of Twin Bridges, Mont. Mailey is a sophomore majoring in business administration. He is the son of Bo and Lisa Mailey.
Tyler Miller of Chandler, Ariz. Miller is a junior business administration major and is the son of Brian and Carol Miller.
Jordan Overstreet of Three Forks, Mont. Overstreet is a sophomore elementary education major and is the son of John Overstreet.
Gabe Rucker of Bozeman, Mont. Rucker is the son of Randy and Sharie Rucker and is a junior majoring in biology.
Montana Western finished their season with a 24-10 record and the best finish in school history with an appearance in the Elite Eight at the national tournament. The Bulldogs also finished in second place in the regular season Frontier Conference standings, second place in the conference tournament and ranked 13th in the final regular-season Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
The University of Montana Western has launched a national search for the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs position.
