Cali., Dec. 13-14, 2013 –The University of Montana Western women’s basketball team traveled to southern California to play both Westmont and Concordia-Irvine this past weekend.
On Friday night the women took to the court and tipped it off versus No. 8 Westmont who has dropped five spots in the coaches poll since the pre-season version. The Warriors proved a little too much for the Bulldogs as they dropped their visitors by a score of 86-55.
The following day the Montana Western ladies traveled to Irvine, Cali. and took on Concordia. The Bulldogs could not overcome a fast start by the Concordia Eagles who took the lead for good after a basket by Ashley Ellis with 11:54 remaining in the first half to make the score 11-10. The Bulldogs went into the half trailing by 14 and came out of the locker room quickly. UMW made a 15-2 run to start the second half and close the gap to 37-38 with 15:21 remaining. Montana Western kept competing and had the Eagles within three points with just under seven minutes remaining when Jenna Banks made a layup, but could not seem to overtake the Eagles. The Bulldogs would fall to the Eagles by 8 points to return home at .500 on the season as they sit 5-5.
