Patriot Day showing of "Taking Chance"

"Taking Chance," an official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and HBO's highest rated original movie in five years, to be shown at Montana Western as part of commemoration of Patriot's Day. “Taking Chance,” an official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, will be shown Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Great Room of the Swysgood Technology Center. The film is presented free as a courtesy of HBO by the University of Montana Western School of Outreach in commemoration of Patriot’s Day. Produced by HBO films and filmed largely in southwest Montana, “Taking Chance” is the story of one Marine’s death in battle, another Marine’s journey of discovery, and a nation’s reverence and gratitude towards its war dead. Kevin Bacon stars as Lt. Colonel Mike Strobl, a veteran Marine officer. After hearing of a young Marine’s heroic death in Iraq, Strobl volunteers to escort the remains of Lance Cpl. Chance Phelps to his hometown in Wyoming. “Taking Chance” was HBO’s most-watched original movie in five years with over 2 million viewers watching its debut in February.
