Ten Prep Stars Join Bulldog Huddle

Nine players from Montana and one from Washington have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football for the University of Montana-Western, according to head coach Tommy Lee.

Signing from Helena High School: Josh Yeager, a 6-3, 260 lb offensive lineman; Bob Beemer, a 6-3, 250 lb offensive lineman; Tom Cohn, a 5-7, 165 lb wide receiver and Marcus Silvonen, a 5-9, 165 lb defensive back. Yeager, Beemer and Silvonen were All-Conference and All-State selections for the Bengals. The four student-athletes will graduate this spring from Helena High School.

Signing from CM Russell High School of Great Falls: Rich Taylor, a 5-10, 240 lb offensive lineman and Tom Griffin, a 6-4, 220 lb defensive lineman. Taylor earned All-Conference and All-State honors for the Rustlers. Both will graduate this spring from CMR High School.

Brett Graybeal is a 5-7, 145 lb wide receiver from Drummond. Graybeal earned All-Conference and All-State honors for the State Class C Champion Trojans. He will graduate from Drummond this spring.

Michael Guelff is a 5-7, 155 lb wide receiver from Billings West High School. He earned first team All-Conference and All-State honors and was selected to play in this summer's East-West Shrine All-Star game. Guelff was also selected as an alternate for the Badlands Bowl. He will graduate this spring from Billings West.

Kyle Hardee is a 6-3, 235 lb defensive end/linebacker from Frenchtown High School. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors and was selected to play in this summer's East-West Shrine game and in the Badlands Bowl. He will graduate this spring from Frenchtown.

Craigh Cornelius is a 5-8, 150lb wide receiver from Renton, Washington. He earned All-Conference, All-Area and All-State honors. He will graduate this spring from Liberty High School.

“I am very impressed with this group of student-athletes,” said Lee. “They all come very good high school programs and had outstanding high school careers. They were not only successful on the football field, but in the classroom as well. They will fit very nicely into our program and should have long, successful careers as UM-Western Bulldogs.”

Lee Signs Six to Bulldog Football

Six players have signed NAIA/Frontier Conference letters of intent to play football for Western according to Bulldog head coach Tommy Lee.

Justin Hartman is a 6'1”, 210 lb sophomore quarterback from Great Falls. Hartman transfers to Western from the University of Montana-Missoula. Jenson Cabanero is a 6'2”, 190 lb freshman quarterback from Pearl City High School of Hawaii. Travis Hartman transfers to Western from UM-Missoula. He was an outstanding quarterback at CMR High School, but will play wide receiver for the Bulldogs. Mike Bassett is a 6'3”, 220 lb H-back who transfers to Western from the University of Kentucky. Transferring to Western from Merced Junior College of California are Antwone Barlow, a 6'3” 185 lb wide receiver from Reno, Nevada and Greg Alexander, a 5'10”, 170 lb cornerback also from Reno.

“This is a good group of student athletes,” said Lee. “We will get a good look at them during Spring Football. This group is a nice addition to our returning players. They will help us in the Fall.”
