Bulldog Football Signs Madison County Trio

Two student-athletes from Sheridan, Mont. and one from Twin Bridges, Mont., signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football for the University of Montana Western, according to head coach Rich Ferris.
Nick Clark is a 5’11”, 230 lb defensive lineman from Sheridan, Mont. During his prep career, he earned all-conference honors his sophomore year and all-conference and all-state honors in his junior and season seasons.
“Sheridan is quickly becoming a powerhouse football program in Class C,” said Ferris. “We are proud to be able to keep a tough, aggressive football player like Nick in the area to play for Montana Western.”
Clark also participates in basketball and track for Sheridan. He is the son Scott and Tuesday Clark and will graduate this spring from Sheridan High School.
Jacob Roy Smith-Herak is a 5’9”, 170 lb defensive back from Twin Bridges, Mont. He earned first team all-conference honors as a defensive end and second team all-conference honors as a tight end.
This past year, he recorded 48 tackles and 16 quarterback sacks. He was the Falcons leading tackler on special teams and led the team in forced fumbles.
“Jake comes to Montana Western from a Twin Bridges program that is among the best Class C programs in the state,” said Ferris. “Jake will join his brother Bo in the secondary. They are very competitive brothers that do well on the field and in the classroom.
Herak is the son of John Herak and Alisa Smith and will graduate this spring from Twin Bridges High School.
Joseph Gregory Ingram is a 5’11”, 165 lb quarterback from Sheridan, Mont. He earned all-conference and all-state honors and was selected to play in the eight-man football all-star game.
This past season he passed for 856 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 317 yards and six touchdowns.
“Joe is competitive enough to play football and basketball at any level in the state of Montana,” said Ferris. “We are very pleased that we were able to offer Joe an opportunity to complete for a starting job in football and a challenging curriculum in his educational needs.”
Ingram is the son of Roman and Joan Hendrickson and will graduate this spring from Sheridan High School.

Seven student athletes have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football at the University of Montana Western, according to head coach Rich Ferris.
Clay Cantrell is a 6-0, 195 lb safety from Drummond, Mont. He is a 2006 graduate from Drummond High School and a transfer from Carroll College. In his time at Drummond, he recorded 20 interceptions. He earned all-state football honors and played in the 2006 All State and Shrine games.
“Clay was a fantastic student athlete from a great football school,” says Ferris. “Clay was our first signing of this recruiting season. He sat out a year of competition and is really looking forward to getting back in pads. Our coaching staff feels strongly about Clay’s potential in the classroom and on the field.”
Cantrell also played basketball and ran track receiving all-conference and all-state honors. He is the son of Dianna Cantrell and grandson of Roberta Rennic and is majoring in business/health and human management.
Kaden Glinsmann is a 6-0, 235 lb defensive end from Winnemucca, Nev. He is a 2005 graduate from Lowry High School and a transfer from Sterling College. During his high school career, he was recognized twice as offensive lineman of the year.
“Kaden has a great personality and will be a perfect fit with the rest if the defensive line,” says Ferris. “His positive attitude has already made an impact on the players around him.
Glinsmann is the son of Rodney and Laurel Glinsmann and is majoring in elementary education.
Matthew “Reese” Christopher is a 5-7, 180 lb running back from Ridgefield, Wash. He is a 2006 graduated from Ridgefield High School and a transfer from Greenville College.
During his high school career, Christopher rushed for 1700 yards with 25 rushing touchdowns and ran 1800 reception yards with 21 touchdown receptions. He also received three all-league honors and played on the Clark County All Region Team. At Greenville, Christopher rushed for 300 yards and had 100 reception yards with one touchdown.
“Reese has exceptional quickness and vision, his athletic ability provides Reese the opportunity to play multiple positions in our offense,” says Ferris. “Reese is the kind of player that demands respect right away from his teammates and coaches.”
Christopher is the son of Patricia and Robert Christopher and is majoring in English education/physical education.
Zack Bristol is a 6-0, 175 lb defensive back from Winnemucca, Nev. He is a 2006 graduated from Lowry High School. He received all league football honors in high school.
“Zach transferred into our program and instantly increased the teams’ athletic ability,” says Ferris. “Zach moves well on the basketball court, he has given us a glimpse of what he can do on the football field, and we are excited to give him a chance to show it off.”
Bristol also earned all league honors in basketball and baseball during high school and had a 3.0 G.P.A. He is the son of Wade and Debbie Bristol and is majoring in elementary education.
Tyler Darnel is a 6-2, 205 lb defensive end from Las Vegas, Nev. He is a 2006 graduated from Chaparral High School. During high school he lettered in football twice and received the coaches award.
“Tyler is one of three players coming from Chaparral High School in Las Vegas, Nevada,” says Ferris. ”Although undersized, Tyler provides explosion off the edge and will be able to provide a speed rush to get pressure on the quarter back. “
Along with football, Darnel lettered three times in track, had a 4.0 G.P.A., and graduated with High Honor distinctions. He is the son of Bill and Nancy Vargas and is a business major.
Anthony Arnone is a 5-9, 175 lb safety from Las Vegas, Nev. He is a 2006 graduated from Chaparral High School. In his career at Chaparral, he made 150 tackles, three quarter back sacks, and three interceptions. Arnone received the top defensive back award and football honorable mention for his high school.
“Anthony, another player from Chaparral, is a very intelligent hard working student athlete,’ says Ferris. “He will provide depth and to a position vacated by the graduation of two seniors. His abilities in the classroom will greatly enhance his performance on the field.”
Arnone was selected to the National Honor Society with a 3.8 G.P.A. and also ran track in high school. He is the grandson of Charlene Burks and will be majoring in social science at UMW.
Jorge Herrera is a 5-11, 230 lb linebacker from Las Vegas, Nev. He is a 2006 graduated from Chaparral High School. He made first team all league and first team all conference in football during his time at Chaparral. Herrera made 85 tackles, 20 quarter back sacks, and one interception in his career.
“Jorge is the final player that comes to us by a very competitive program in a great league in Las Vegas,” says Ferris. “Jorge has played and done well against some very good competition. He is a very powerful and compact student athlete.”
Herrera is the son of Jorge and Reina Herrera and is majoring in business management.

Bulldog Football Signs Butte Central Star

Zack Bair, a 5-11, 185 lb linebacker from Butte, Mont., has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play football for the University of Montana Western according to head coach Rich Ferris.
Bair earned second team all-conference honors as a defensive tackle in his junior season. He was a first team all-state and all-conference selection at offensive tackle and a second team all-conference selection at linebacker this past season.
“Zach is a hard-nosed, tough kid from Butte Central,” said Ferris. “He will be a great addition to our program and to the Montana Western community.”
In addition to football, Bair also participates in basketball and track.
From the classroom, he received academic all-state honors in track.
Bair will graduate this spring from Butte Central and will major in education. He is the son of Laurie Wilson and Steve Bair.
