Bulldog Football Signs Seven

Seven prep student-athletes have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football at the University of Montana Western according to head football coach Tommy Lee.

Jared DeLong is a 5’10”, 160 lb wide receiver/defensive back from Anaconda, Mont. He earned second team All-Conference honors as a wide receiver and honorable mention honors as a defensive back. “ Jared has very good speed and can play either side of the ball.” said recruiting coordinator Travis Domser. “He is also a great special teams player.” DeLong also participated in wrestling. He will graduate this spring from Anaconda High School and plans to major secondary education with majors in history and health and human performance. DeLong is the son of Gordon and Debbie DeLong.

Justin Garcia is a 6’4”, 210 lb defensive lineman from Kuna, Idaho. He earned honorable mention All-Conference honors. Kuna finished 4-5 on the season and fourth in the 4A Southern Idaho League. “Justin is a very good defensive lineman,” added Domser. “He plays with a great motor and makes his presence known in the field, we are excited with this young mans potential.”
Garcia will graduate this spring from Kuna High School. He is the son of Larry and Michelle Garcia.

Tyler L. Herrera is a 6’0”, 185 lb defensive back from Spokane, Wash. In his senior season, he recorded 100 tackles, four quarterback sacks and seven interceptions. For his career, he recorded 250 tackles, ten quarterback sacks and nine interceptions. “Tyler is a bigger DB and does a great job not only in pass coverage, but also against the run,” said Domser. “We are excited to get Tyler in our program.” Herrera will graduate this spring from University High School and plans to major in biology and health and human performance. He is the son of Tana J. Bromps.

Jimmy Hotvedt is a 5’8”, 210 lb running back from Olympia, Wash. He earned All-League honors as a running back and was selected his team’s offensive MVP after his senior season. Last year he rushed for 737 yards and seven touchdowns. He caught twelve passes for 191 yards and one touchdown. For his career, he rushed for 1553 yards and twelve touchdowns and caught 18 passes for 336 yards and one touchdown. “Jimmy is a very versatile player,” said Domser. “Jimmy played on both sides of the ball and does a great job with special teams. He will come into our program as a fullback, and we are excited about his potential.” Hotvedt also participated in track. He will graduate this spring from Olympia High School and plans to major in secondary education at Western. Hotvedt is the son of Jim and Terri Hotvedt.

Austin Jones is a 6’0”, 265 lb offensive lineman from Sandpoint, Idaho. He was selected the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman at the Vandal football camp and earned first team All-League honors. “Austin is a very aggressive offensive lineman that comes from a very good high school program,” said recruiting coordinator Travis Domser. “He does a nice job in the run and pass game. Austin is another one of those old school-tough guys that will fit nicely in our program.” Jones will graduate this spring from Sandpoint High School and plans to major in health and human performance. He is the son of Clayton and Sandy Jones.

Damon Taylor is a 6’1”, 265 lb offensive lineman from Spokane, Wash. He was a two-year starter and selected his team’s “Best Offensive Lineman”.
“Damon is very excited to be a Bulldog and the feeling is mutual,” added Domser. “He is a tough nosed lineman from a very competitive league in Washington. Damon is very athletic for his size and has a great attitude. We look forward to see what his future will be like at Western.” Taylor will graduate this spring from Lewis & Clark High School and plans to major in education. He is the son of Dewey and Annette.

Benjamin Tugend is a 5’8”, 165 lb running back from Eatonville, Wash. He earned All-League honors as both a running back and a linebacker and was selected his team’s offensive MVP after his junior and senior seasons. In a 42-30 victory over Foster High School, Tugend rushed for 306 yards and four touchdowns on 46 carries. “Ben comes from a 2A powerhouse school in Washington,” said Domser. He has great speed and ability. Not only is Ben fast, he is also very allusive. He spent his high school career in a very well coached spread offense and will be a great fit in our offense.” Tugend also competes in track and as a sophomore, was the Washington state champion in both the 100 and 200 meter spring and placed third in the 400. Tugend will graduate this spring from Eatonville High School and plans to major in education. He is the son of Karen Davidian and Allen Tuegend

Five Montana Grid Stars Sign With Bulldog Football

Five student-athletes from Montana have signed Frontier Conference/NAIA letters of intent to play football for the University of Montana Western according to head coach Tommy Lee.

Brandon Bouchee is a 6’1”, 265 lb offensive lineman from Billings, Mont. Bouchee earned All-Conference and All-State honors for Billings Senior.

“ Brandon has a lot of experience, and great ability as an offensive or defensive lineman,” said recruiting coordinator Travis Domser. “Brandon has an excellent motor on the field and will be an excellent fit academically. We are excited to have Brandon in our program.”

Bouchee also participated in wrestling and track and earned All-State honors in both sports. He was a four-time Academic All-State selection. Bouchee is the son of Jon and Kathy Wegner and will graduate this spring from Billings Senior High School.

Kody Davis is a 6’0”, 195 lb linebacker from Wibaux, Mont. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors and was selected to play in the Class C All-Star game.

“ Kody is a tough linebacker coming from Wibaux, Mont.” added Domser. “He has good size and strength coming out of high school, and will fit well in our schemes. We feel that he will be a great fit into our program.”

In addition to football, Davis also participates in basketball and track. He is the son of Marty and Christy Davis and will graduate this spring from Wibaux County High School.

Bryon Ellingson is a 6’0”, 245 lb offensive lineman from Butte, Mont. He earned All-Conference honors as an offensive lineman. As a defensive lineman, he recorded 51 tackles including three tackles for loss. Ellingson also recorded one quarterback sack, one pass deflection and had one fumble recovery.

“Bryan is another good offensive lineman for us this year from the state of Montana,” said Domser. “He is a big weight room guy and is excited to get in and get to work. Bryan will be an excellent fit in our program, and in our school.”

He is the son of Lucine and Dennis Ellingson and will graduate this spring from Butte High School. Ellingson plans to major in business.

Chazz Grey is a 6’0”, 205 lb strong safety from Missoula, Mont. In his senior season, he recorded 176 tackles and one interception. For his career, he recorded 352 tackles and seven interceptions. As a receiver, he had 70 career receptions and five touchdowns. Grey earned All-Conference and All-State honors and was selected to play in the East-West Shrine and Montana-Dakota All-Star games.

“Chazz is a very good safety,” said Domser. “He can run, hit and is a very strong kid coming out of high school. He has a great knack for always being around the ball. We are excited about his future here at Western.”

Grey will graduate this spring from Missoula Sentinel High School and plans to major in health and human performance. He is the son of Cheri and Dan Grey.

Charlie Talarico is a 5’11”, 210 lb linebacker from Missoula, Mont. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors. In addition to football, he also participated in basketball and track.

“Charlie is another standout defensive player from Missoula,” added Domser. He has good speed and plays very aggressive to the ball. Charlie is a very nice addition to a deep recruiting class of linebackers.”

Talarico will graduate this spring from Missoula Big Sky High School. He is the son of Tom and Denise Talarico.
