Three Bulldogs Earn All-Conference Honors

Three University of Montana Western basketball players were named to the men’s Frontier Conference All-Conference team.
Senior Aaron Sims, junior Chad Myers and sophomore Layne Glaus were named to the second team.
Myers led the Bulldogs and was 11th in the Frontier in scoring with 13.6 points per game. He was second in the conference and eighth in the nation in 3-point field goals made with 3.2 per game.
Glaus was second on the team in scoring with 13 points per game. He led UMW and was fourth in the conference in free throw percentage.
Sims led the Bulldogs and was second in the conference in rebounding with 8 rebounds per game. was third on the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 10-19 overall record.

Bulldogs Lose Close One at Frontier Tourney

The Bulldogs ended their season with a 62-70 loss to Carroll College in the first round of the men's Frontier Conference tournament.
UMW fell behind early in the first half and trailed by as many as 14. At the 7:06 mark, the Bulldogs trailed 24-10. Two free throws by Ryan Hansen ignited a 14-4 Bulldog run. That was as close as the Bulldogs would get in the first half and trailed 31-25 at the break.
The Bulldogs stayed close to Carroll in the opening minutes of the second half. The Saints built an 13 point lead with 11:26 remaining.
UMW cut the Saints lead to four, 64-60 with 49 seconds remaining but could get no closer as Carroll sealed the win at the free throw line.
Chad Myers led the Bulldogs with 16 points followed by Zach Pitts with 13 and Daniel Creech with 12. Creech led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Bulldogs close their season with a 10-19 overall record.

Bulldogs Face Carroll at Frontier Conference Tourney

The University of Montana Western Bulldogs play Carroll College in their first game at the Men's Frontier Conference tournament, Thursday, March 6.The game tips -off at 4 p.m. from the Maroon Activity Center in Butte, Mont.

The Bulldogs lost both regular season meetings with Carroll. Montana Western lost 67-83 in Helena and 57-67 in Dillon.
Montana Western has finished the regular season with a 3-11 conference mark and a 10-18 overall record. The Bulldogs are in the sixth seed. The Bulldogs season average is 69.89 points per game they give up 72.82 in conference competition they average 67.07 points per game and give up 75.00.
Chad Myers leads the Bulldogs for the season with an average of 13.65 points per game; Layne Glaus follows close behind with 13.39 ppg. UMW rebounding leader was Aaron Sims with an average 7.92 for the season.
Carroll College finished the season with a 10-4 Frontier Conference record and an overall mark of 22-7. The Saints are seeded second. Carroll College received votes for this weeks NAIA coaches pole, but did not make the top 25. The Saints average 75.17 points per game and gives up 64.31 overall in the conference they average 73.01 points per game and give up 65.71.
The Saints are led in scoring by Chad Vaculin with 14.28 points per game. Chris Kaschmitter leads the team in rebounding with an average of 5.7 for the season.

Bulldogs over Great Falls

The University of Montana Western Bulldogs defeated the University of Great Falls Argos 90-88 in their last regular season game of the year.
Montana Western will finish the season 3-11 in the conference and 10-18 overall. Daniel Creech was top scorer for the night with 27 points. Aaron Sims had double-doubles with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
The Argos fall to 2-11 conference and 8-17 overall for the season. Cory Brothers and Ames Rayshaun led the Argos in scoring, with 20 points each. Rayshaun also led in rebounding with 10.
The two teams battled out the first half. Great Falls ended in the lead 39-35.
The game continued to be a tight race. The teams exchanged leads until a set of UMW free throws by Layne Glaus attached a six-point lead for the Bulldogs with 23 seconds left in the game. Great Falls continued to fight but was unable to overcome the Bulldog lead.
