The University of Montana-Western Drama Program presents the Neil Simon's contemporary classic “The Odd Couple” in two versions!

The “men's version” with Oscar Madison (the slob) and Felix Ungar (the finicky fellow) will presented on Sept 29-30 and Oct 1.

The “women's version” featuring Olive and Florence as the main characters is presented on Oct 6, 7, and 8.
Evening performances are 7:30 p.m. in the Small Auditorium (MH 314); all seats are $5 and available at the door.

The men's version stars Scott Gebert of Helena as Oscar, and Alex Ferguson of Great Falls as Felix. The “odd couple” become roommates after sticky divorces, and all havoc breaks loose as they try to become compatible (impossible) and navigate their first dates (incredible) as newly-single, middle-aged men.

Friday poker nights with their four buddies are completely crazed - Felix perpetually dusts and polishes cleans up as Oscar and his buddies eat, argue, and generally make a mess.
Lindsey Sinclair from Boise, Idaho is featured as Olive in the female version and Dillon's Maryl De Milo as Florence. With their Trivial Pursuit gal-pals, they fumble with hot dates, the Spanish Manuelo brothers, and perpetually fail in their ill-fated attempts to room together.

Jack deGolia, Mike Craddock, Jessica De Milo, Anna Bush, Jennifer Barth, Mike Herdina, Mark Haubrich, Andrew Foster, Lauren Lindquist, Karlee Mosher, Kristine Sandman, Ali Gaverich, Perry Shank, Alicia Kupilick, and Mandy Brown round out the cast.

Montana Repertory Theatre Comes to Western
Friday, September 23 2005

Bozeman Artist Featured in First Exhibit of Fall Season at UM-Western Gallery
Tuesday, September 20 2005
UMW_Gallery_11b1.jpg The University of Montana - Western Art Gallery/Museum has opened its 2005-06 season with an exhibit of 18 large pastel drawings by Bozeman artist Mary Ann Kelly.

The exhibit will continue in the Corr Gallery until October 7. A public reception for the exhibit will be held Monday, September 26, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. This is in connection with the Dillon Concert Association performance by the "Side Street Strutters" in the UMW Beier Auditorium.

The drawings are inspired by Kelly's close observation of nature's details and qualities. Kelly is drawn to nature's small and intimate features - the kinds of things one notices when hiking and looking down at objects close to your feet or things one finds in an intimate garden. Then, working from memory, Kelly creates layered, abstracted images of organic forms that reflect nature's uniqueness without directly quoting it.

Of her own intentions Kelly says, "In Montana we are very conscious of the land. Here we tend to look at things far away - we're overwhelmed with the space. I want viewers to come into the garden, to see subtle changes in color. In nature... I see details that I want to recapture in art... because I am more sensual than linear. I start with collecting, then order and organize in different ways."

Kelly, who teaches high school art at the Bridger Alternative School in Bozeman, has traveled to Hawaii and Japan and her images show an influence from Japanese art. Her images are carefully balanced, relying upon lyrical compositions of rhythmic and vibrant color.

"In real life a room full of plants can be so inviting," says Gallery Director Randy Horst. "Kelly's drawings carry that same quality, enlivening the gallery with color and a sense of comfort."

Kelly's exhibit is sponsored by the Montana Art Gallery Directors Association with funding by the National Endowment of the Arts, the Montana Coal Tax Fund, and the Montana Arts Council.

The Art Gallery/Museum can be found at the south end of the first floor of Main Hall on the UMW campus. Gallery times are Tuesdays through Fridays from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. To arrange for special times or visits call the director at 683-7232.

The Gallery/Museum also houses a permanent collection of art and the Seidensticker Wildlife Collection of taxidermy from around the world. "Native Perspectives on the Trail" will be the next art show and will open October 18.
