Montana Western Rodeo in Helena

The University of Montana Western rodeo team travels to Helena for a Big Sky Region rodeo, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds.

Evening performances are at 7:00 each night. There is a Saturday morning slack performance at 9.

The Western men’s team moved into first place in the Big Sky Region after the Montana State Spring rodeo two weeks ago. The women’s team remained in second place in the region behind Montana State.

Montana Western will compete in rodeos in Glendive, Mont April 28-30 and Missoula, Mont. May 4-7 to end the regular season.

The top two teams in the region automatically advance to the College National Finals Rodeo, June11-17 in Casper, Wyoming.

Rodeo Team Opens Spring Season at MSU

The University of Montana Western Rodeo team opens their spring season in Bozeman, Montana at the Montana State University spring rodeo, Thursday, Apr.6 through Saturday, Apr.8 at the MSU Field House.

Performances are 7 p.m. nightly with a Friday slack performance at 10 a.m.

The Montana Western women’s team open the second half of the season in second place in the Big Sky Region and 17th in the nation. Junior Kayla Hutchison leads the region in both the All-Around standings and goat tying. Senior Tierani Brusett leads the region in breakaway roping with teammates Bry Worthen second and Hutchison third. Senior Deanna Levine is second in the region in barrel racing.

The Montana Western men’s team is ranked second in the region and 11th in the nation. Junior Mac Erickson is second in the region in All-Around, first in bareback riding and second in bull riding. Junior Jarrett Monroe leads the region in saddle bronc riding.

There are five rodeos in the spring season. Montana Western looks to qualify both teams for the College Nationals Five Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming June 11-17. The top two teams in the men’s and women’s standings qualify for the CNFR.
