Lady Bulldogs Host Montana Tech

The University of Montana Western Lady Bulldogs host Montana Tech Wednesday, Nov. 1 in a Frontier Conference volleyball match from the Straugh Gymnasium. The first serve is at 7 p.m.??Montana Western is 1-23 overall and 1-11 in league play after dropping road matches to Rocky Mountain and Carroll College.

Montana Tech upset the University of Great Falls 3-2 and defeated MSU-Northern 3-2 to raise their record to 10-14 overall and 6-6 in the Frontier Conference.

This is the third match between Montana-Western and Montana Tech this season. Tech won a non-conference match 3-0 in early September. In early October, Montana Tech won the first conference match between the two schools 3-1.

Lady Bulldogs at Rocky and Carroll

The University of Montana Western Lady Bulldogs takes to the road to face Rocky Mountain College on Friday, Oct. 27 and Carroll College on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Frontier Conference volleyball.

This is the second round between Montana-Western and both Rocky and Carroll in a month and the third meeting this season. They played each other on September 28 and 30 with Rocky and Carroll coming out victorious in both conference matches. Western lost to both teams at the Lady Bulldog Invitational in early September.

Rocky Mountain College is currently 13-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play. Rocky is looking to snap a three game losing streak. Carroll College is currently holding steady at third place in the conference with a 16-7-1 record overall and 7-4 in conference.

Montana-Western is mired at the bottom of the standings with an overall record of 1-21 and 1-9 in conference.

The Lady Bulldogs close out the regular season at home against Montana Tech on Nov. 1 and Lewis-Clark on Nov. 4.

Lady Bulldogs Fall to Westminster

The Lady Bulldogs lost 3-0 to nationally ranked Westminster College. Game scores were 30-17, 30-16 and 30-20.

Sophomore Lindsey Nicholls led Western with eight kills followed by Nicole Clark with seven and Jenny Finlay with five. Finlay led the defense with 11 digs followed by Kiley Myers with 10 digs.

The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 1-9 in conference and 1-22 overall.

Lady Bulldogs Lose to UGF

Montana Western lost 3-0 to the University of Great Falls in a Frontier Conference volleyball match from the Straugh Gymnaisum.

Game scores were 10-30, 34-36 and 24-30. The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 1-8 in league play and 1-21 overall.

Jenny Finlay led Montana Western with nine kills followed by Lindseay Nicholls and Kirilyn Winkler with six each. Defensively, Kiley Myers had 13 digs followed by Kyla Rasmussen with nine.

Lady Bulldogs Win First
Saturday, October 14 2006
The University of Montana-Western Lady Bulldogs captured their win of the season with a 3-2 victory Frontier Conference victory overdowned MSU-Northern.

The Lady Bulldogs won by game scores of 30-24, 24-30, 30-21, 19-30, 15-13.

Lindsay Nicholls led the Lady Bulldogs offensively with 13 kills, followed by Jenny Finlay with 12 kills. Kiley Myers led the Bulldog defense with 14 digs. Jenny Finlay and Stephanie Couture added support with 9 digs and 8 digs respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs improve their record to 1-20 overall and 1-7 in conference. MSU-Northern watched their record drop to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

Montana-Western squares off against the University of Great Falls in another Frontier Conference tilt on October 14 at 7:00 in Straugh Gymnasium.

Lady Bulldogs Host MSU-Northern and University of Great Falls

The University of Montana Western Lady Bulldog volleyball team hosts MSU-Northern on Friday, Oct. 13 and The University of Great Falls on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Dillon in a pair of Frontier Conference matches. Both matches begin at 7:00 in Straugh Gymnasium.

The Lady Bulldogs are still looking for the first win. Western saw their record drop to 0-20 overall and 0-7 in conference play after road losses to Montana Tech and Lewis-Clark.

MSU-Northern comes into the weekend with a 4-8 record overall and 2-5 in conference play. This will be the third match between the two schools with Northern winning the previous two, one at a preseason tournament and one in the opening match of the conference season.

University of Great Falls’ record now stands at 13-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play. UGF is ranked 4th in region one, and although they didn’t crack the NAIA, top-25, they did receive votes. This will be the fourth match between the two schools with Great Falls winning the previous three. The Lady Bulldogs lost twice to UGF in tournaments and in the opening weekend of conference play.

The Lady Bulldogs are led offensively by Jenny Finlay with 2.6 kills per game followed by Nicole Clark with 2.2. Defensively, the Lady Bulldogs are led by Kiley Myers with 3.57 digs per game and Arron Fjeld with .61 blocks per game.

Montana-Western remains at home on October 20th when they host Westminster College at Straugh Gymnasium at 7:00.

Lady Bulldogs Stay Winless

The Lady Bulldogs dropped their first two home conference matches as they lost to Rocky Mountain College 1-3 and Carroll College 0-3. Western is now 0-5 in the Frontier and 0-18 overall.

Against Rocky, the Lady Bulldogs won the first game of the match 30-20 and then fell 15-30, 25-30 and 17-30.

Lindsey Nichols led three Lady Bulldogs scoring in double figure kills with 11. Kirilyn Winkler and Jenny added 10 a piece. Kiley Myers had nine digs followed by Finlay with eight and Nichols and Kyla Rasmussen with seven each.

Against Carroll, Finlay led the attack with 11 kills followed by Nicole Clark with seven. Finlay also led the team in digs with eight followed by Myers with seven.
