Bulldog Volleyball Lose in First Round

The University of Montana Western volleyball team ended their season with a 0-3 loss to Lewis-Clark State in the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament.
The Bulldogs ended an injury riddled season 0-25.

Bulldog Volleyball at Conference Tournament

The University of Montana Western volleyball team travels to Billings, Mont. for the Frontier Conference tournament Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10.
The Bulldogs, seeded eighth in the tournament, play the top-seeded Lewis-Clark State Warriors Friday at 1 p.m.
Montana Western finished the regular season 0-14 in conference play and 0-24 overall. Lewis-Clark won the regular season title with a 12-2 conference mark. The Warriors were 18-5 overall and ranked 20th in the latest NAIA Top-25.
The Bulldogs played Lewis-Clark three times this season. Once in a preseason tournament and twice in conference play. The Warriors won all three matches by the identical 3-0 score.
Montana Western goes into the conference tourney with only eight healthy players. The injury bug has been devastating to the Bulldogs. Four players suffered season ending injuries over the course of the season.
Freshman Courtney Nicholls leads the team in kills with 2.09 per game followed by sophomore Brianna Ternes with 1.91. Sophomore Kiley Myers leads the team and conference in service aces with .60 per game. Myers is third in the Frontier in digs with 4.1 per game.

Lady Bulldogs End Regular Season with Pair of Losses

Bulldog volleyball saw their record fall to 0-14 in the Frontier and 0-23 overall after home losses to nationally ranked Lewis-Clark and Westminster College.
On Friday night, the Bulldogs lost 3-0 to #20 Lewis-Clark. Courtney Nichols and Kiley Myers led Western with six kills each. Nicole Mertens had 12 digs followed by Kiley Myers with 11.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs faced #24 Westminster and dropped a 3-0 match. Nichols again led the attack with four kills.
The Bulldogs open the Frontier Conference tournament Friday, Nov. 9 in Billings, Mont. against Lewis-Clark at 1 p.m. The tournament is hosted by Rocky Mountain College and all matches will be at the Fortin Center.

Bulldog Volleyball Hosts Nationally Ranked Teams

The University of Montana Western Bulldog volleyball team hosts Lewis-Clarks State on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 and Westminster College on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007.
The Friday match begins at 6 p.m. and the Saturday match begins at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs are still looking for their first win of the season. They are 0-12 in the Frontier and 0-22 overall after losing to MSU-Northern and the University of Great Falls last weekend.
Lewis-Clark is 10-2 in the conference, 16-5 overall and ranked 20 in the latest NAIA Top-25. The Bulldogs and LC have met twice this year, once in a preseason tournament and once in league play. Lewis-Clark won both matches by a 3-0 score.
Westminster College is also 10-2 in the Frontier, 18-6 overall and are ranked 23 in the NAIA Top-25. The Griffins beat Western 3-0 in Salt Lake earlier in the season.
This will be the last week of regular season play. The conference tournament is Friday, Nov. 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10 on the campus of Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont.
